On Sunday 27th November, Dartford Lions Club president, Lion Avtar Sandhu MBE, presented a Defibrillator to the Sikh Temple on Highfield Road, Dartford. This piece of life saving equipment was agreed at their club meeting some months ago but due to a shortage of supplies, presentation took place recently. The Guru Hargobind Sahib Gurdwara (Sikh Temple), is a well established place of worship in Dartford since the 1980’s, attended by several hundred members of the community each week, the club considered it to be in need of a defibrillator. President Lion Avtar Sandhu said ‘Dartford Lions Club is here for all members of the local community, all funds are raised by our local residents are generally invested back into the local community. The fact that we have supplied this machine to the Gurdwara, is a true example of our club contributing to the local residents of Dartford. I would also urge anyone who needs the support of our club to contact us, it’s all about working together”. The Lions Club have been supporting the residents of Dartford since being formed in 1969, this support has come in various forms ranging from food vouchers, disability equipment, assisting vulnerable families through to sending medical supplies to Ukraine. The club continues to work hard within the community.
